Iran is ready to resume nuclear talks with Washington as long as it is handled with "respect" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has declared.

The Iranian diplomat said only diplomacy worked, and shared new appeals had originated from intermediaries to reopen negotiations with the American leadership. Subsequently, Western states exercised their authority to restore UN-wide sanctions, but Iran asserts they have not had a substantial consequence.

Ideal Resolution Suggested

Tehran representatives stated they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the nuclear fuel concern in previous talks, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. The two nations would have been able to declare success since home-based processing would have persisted and the US could be confident that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been settled in the talks that Washington's technical specialists could work inside Iran, but that was a logical implication of the partnership suggestion. Representatives asserted on multiple occasions they had secured an understanding with Washington's diplomat Steve Witkoff only for the arrangement to collapse due to "spoilers in Washington".

Current Status

Iran's diplomats stated the partnership proposal was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the proposal could be resurrected in various formats if talks resume.

The American leader recently claimed he had been getting signals that Iran desired to restart talks, but privately Iran's diplomats say they are not yet receiving coherent offers from America either straightforwardly or from significant local go-betweens, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been accused of inactivity in the aftermath of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Iran says diplomacy is not part of a performance.

He continued: "We effectively endured this war. Our atomic expertise, which they aimed to destroy, continues to exist. The installations and equipment, if damaged, will be reconstructed; what is crucial is the determination of the Iranian people and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but did not succeed to shatter. The Iranian people have grown stronger, more integrated, and more endorsing of the leadership and the state in the face of this attack."
